“Hot Rod” Rowdy Roddy Piper was an iconic WWE/WWF Superstar who took the wrestling company to new heights in the mid to late 80s. Piper had his likeness molded into rubber in the very first series one of LJN’s WWF wrestling figure toy line. There are said to be several variations of this figure including different shades of red boots and also many said variations of his highly coveted and moderately hard to find accessory… his kilt!
LJN wrestling figures were released in the mid 1980s and the figures are rubber dolls with no articulation. Most of the dolls are cast into molds which were somewhat decent for displaying the figures, but made play for kids somewhat difficult. The paint on these dolls easily wears off over time which is a curse but also a blessing for those collectors who are able to keep their loose dolls in great condition. While rubber is primarily considered a safe material for childrens toys – kids could potentially bite pieces of the figure off into smaller pieces posing risks of choking hazards.
